What started as Shawn and Tanya Jensen’s side project quickly became a thriving design studio. Drawing on Shawn’s 15 years of custom home experience, their passion for creative residential design soon grew into New Century Design.
2. Building a Reputation
Without any advertising, NCD’s work spoke for itself. Their projects became quiet ambassadors — passed from one satisfied client to another, establishing a reputation for excellence and genuine care.
3. The Inglewood Era
With their move to a cozy loft studio in Calgary’s historic Inglewood, NCD expanded its team and vision. They became early leaders in R-CG and H-GO row homes while designing some of their most celebrated estate residences.
4. The Next Chapter
Now in a bright new Inglewood office near the Bow River, NCD continues to design distinctive homes across Western Canada and beyond — guided by creativity, collaboration, and a love for the lifestyle they help others create.

The Leader Behind NCD
Shawn Jensen
Founder & Principal Designer
A strong passion for thoughtful design led Shawn to pursue a career in architectural technology. After earning his Honours Diploma, he joined Cardel Homes, where he spent 15 years as Senior Designer.
As demand for his creative vision grew, Shawn decided to take the leap and start his own company — and that’s when New Century Design was born.
Over the years, he’s designed everything from modern mountain retreats to mid-century city builds and farmhouse-style custom homes. Each project pushes him to think creatively and adds to his design repertoire.

Tanya Jensen
Finance Officer
Shawn and I have built a life around home design. Our weekends were filled with exploring show homes, and designing them better in our heads. When we began New Century Design, I put my 10 years of banking experience into practice by managing the bookkeeping and funds for the company.

Senior Associate
I have been surrounded by the construction and design industry my entire life. Growing up I would visit my dad’s completed job sites and was inspired by the precision that went into each build. As a naturally creative person, I realized that residential design would allow me to channel that creativity into something meaningful. I design spaces that enhance the lives of the people who experience them. My goal is to transform your vision into a well-planned, build-ready home.

Junior Architectural Technologist
Pencil drawing and puzzle solving have been my favorite hobbies since I was a kid. Now I use those skills to create well-crafted construction drawings and 3D renderings of your dream home. I love combining the technical side of home design with the artistry of creating your beautiful space. There’s something very satisfying seeing form and function come together to turn your vision into reality.

Junior Architectural Technologist
In middle school, my favorite subjects were art, engineering, and science—and now I get to use them all every day! My experience in carpentry and working under a general contractor help me to see the practical and realistic needs of your project. I love bringing creativity and technical skills together to create home designs that are unique and personal to you.

I have lived in Calgary for over 10 years, and I never grow tired of seeing how design shapes this beautiful city. I genuinely love reading and interpreting city planning documents to help you understand the potential of your build site. My expertise in marketing and management allows me to keep your design project scheduled and completed on time.
